Many of our patients visit us seeking facial rejuvenation, and thanks to options like Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers, we can help you turn back the clock. When most people think of aging skin and what makes you look old, they’ll mention wrinkles as the first culprit. Of course, there is more than just one type of wrinkle: The lines in between your eyes (the “11” lines as they’re often called) or the crow’s feet at the corners of the eyes are one type of wrinkle. This wrinkling is caused by muscle movements over time, and naturally as you age those lines start to become permanent. Muscle “freezers” like Botox and Dysport are a great solution for these types of wrinkles, but products like Botox just can’t restore lost volume to your face.

The Wrinkles Problem

What about those really deep wrinkles, where you have lost volume over the years? Those folds that extend from the corners of your nose on down to the sides of your mouth — called the “nasolabial folds” — tend to become deeper with age, and this can have a very negative impact on your appearance. Similarly, many people start to develop small sunken-in lines all around the lips as they age, and this gives the area around the mouth an unattractive puckered appearance that makes you look much older than you really are. It is also not uncommon to lose volume in your lips as you grow older: A once plump pout can appear slack and droopy as you age.

How do I fix these problems?

All of these problems, and many losses of facial volume, can be beautifully and effectively rectified with the use of Hyaluronic Acid dermal fillers. These products use Hyaluronic Acid — which occurs naturally in your body, but diminishes over time — to give volume back to the areas where it is needed. Since Hyaluronic Acid is already present in your body naturally, there is no worry about allergic reactions, as there would be with a collagen-based injection, which generally come from bovine sources that people may be allergic to.

Hyaluronic Acid fillers include products in the Juvederm family, Restylane family products, and Radiesse. All of these fillers are administered via a very fine needle, directly to the area of your face needing the volume. Many of today’s newer generation dermal fillers, such as Juvederm XC, include lidocaine within the formula, ensuring that patients will be numbed in the injection area, and will thus have minimal pain during injection.

Many of our patients in the Delaware area find that a combination approach — such as Botox and Hyaluronic Acid fillers — can give them such dramatic results that they appear fully rejuvenated and many years younger. This combination treatment has such remarkable results that it has even been called a “Liquid Facelift.”

Results will typically last from 6 months up to a full year with just a single treatment. Most people will be able to have a Hyaluronic Acid filler injected and then resume their routine. You may have some swelling and redness for one or two days, but it is just fine to wear light makeup to cover this initial redness. Our doctor will give you specific after care instructions, but don’t hesitate to ask if you have any questions after your appointment!

We are pleased to be your partner in youthful rejuvenation, and we look forward to seeing you here in our Newport Beach office soon!
